English

We follow the Letters and Sounds Phonics teaching programme.  We ensure that pupils phonics work and progress through the phases is personalised to each individual pupil. 

Our English curriculum is based on the topics / themes we are teaching.  Each teacher incorporates all aspects of the English curriculum into their lessons ensuring that there is always a focus on reading and writing (phonics / fine motor skills) as well as ensuring that pupils communication programmes are also included where relevant. 

 

Fiction / Non-Fiction and Poetry and used each term as part of the delivery of these lessons. 

 

Learning objectives and outcomes are personalised and linked to each pupils individualised learning opportunities. 

 

Progress in English is assessed using PIVATS where relevant or Routes for Learning / Personalised targets.
