Wingates Residential Holiday 2018

Monday 21st May 2018

We all arrived safely at the Wingate Centre after a good trip down the motorway.  The children enjoyed their lunch and then played outside in the sunshine.  At 3pm we all went to the gym and had a fantastic time playing on the trampoline and exploring the gym equipment.  For tea we had lasagne, chips and garlic bread with cheese.  After tea we had a little more time to play out before having showers or baths and watching a film before bedtime.  Everyone was really tired and all the children were in bed and asleep by 9pm.

Tuesday 22nd May

After a lovely breakfast we set off for Chester Zoo.  On arrival we split into 3 groups and spent the morning exploring the zoo.  We saw lots of amazing animals including a baby elephant and a baby rhino.  We all met together for lunch and shared stories of what we had seen during the morning.  It was very hot in the afternoon so everyone was treated to an ice cream to help cool down.  At 3.30pm we all met by the shop and everyone enjoyed choosing a gift to remind them of their visit to Chester Zoo.

We arrived back at The Wingate Centre in time for a drink and cool down and then it was time for tea.  Everyone enjoyed Curry and Rice with Naan Bread.  After tea we all played out before having showers / baths and watching a film.  Everyone settled well after an exhausting day out.

Wednesday 23rd May

Good Morning from Wingates ................ this is our view when we wake up in the morning!

We arrived at Play Factore after a slightly slow journey on the M6.  The children had a great time playing on the play equipment.  Unfortunately we haven't got many photos as the children disappeared into the play area having fun!!!  After lunch we got our warm clothes on and set off for the Snow Park.  It was very cold but we all had fun and overcame some of our fears and couldn't wait to come down the runs as fast as we could! When we got back to The Wingate Centre we played out before we had Pizza and Chips for tea.  There was still time to play out after tea and Mr Lorimer treated us to some wonderful live songs outside.  After a film we were all exhausted and ready for bed.

Thursday 24th May

Everyone slept very well last night and we even had to wake some of the children up so they were ready for breakfast at 8.30am.  After breakfast we got ready and set off for The Blue Planet Aquarium.  It was so relaxing to walk round looking at all the fish and watching the sharks being fed.  After lunch we had a lovely play outside in the sunshine.  It was only a short journey to Snugbury's where we all enjoyed an ice-cream, again sitting out in the sunshine. When we got back to Wingates the children all played outside while the staff started to prepare for going home tomorrow.  We had Cottage / Vegetable Pie for tea before a last play out before showers and bedtime.  Everyone was in bed and asleep very quickly and are excited to be coming home tomorrow but a little bit sad to say good-bye to Wingates!

Friday 25th May

Our last day at Wingates and the children were all excited to be going home but sad to be leaving Wingates.  Sadly it was raining so the children didn't get one last play out.  After breakfast the children went to watch a film while the staff loaded up the minibuses and made sure we didn't leave anything behind.  After a rainy journey up the M6 / M65 we arrived at Banny's.  It was lovely sharing a final meal together and chatting about all the amazing things we had done on our holiday. The children were all excited to see everyone back in school and share their holiday adventures.  There were lots of tired children (and staff!!!) who went home that afternoon.
