Wingates Residential Holiday 2017

We are all very excited about going to The Wingate Centre this year.  18 pupils and 11 staff from will set off on Monday 22nd May for a busy week in Cheshire.  As well as enjoying ourselves at The Wingate Centre we will visit Chester Zoo, Snow Dome and The Big Play Barn near Tamworth and The Blue Planet Aquarium followed by an Ice Cream at Snugbury's.  On our way home on Friday 26th May we will stop off at Banny's for some lunch being getting back to school..

I hope to put photos on this page each night to give you a flavour of the fun we are having.

Day One - Arrival at Wingates

We had a fantastic journey and arrived at The Wingate Centre in time for lunch.  After our lunch we unpacked the minibuses and found our bedrooms - the children were all excited to find out who they were sharing with.  The weather has been amazing and the children played out before we went into the gym.  The children (and staff) all enjoyed themselves especially going on the trampoline and swinging on the high rings.  Before and after tea we played out again and were ready for showers and baths before watching part of a film and going to bed.

Day Two - Chester Zoo

We have had a brilliant day at Chester Zoo.  The sun shone and the children were brilliant.  We saw some amazing animals and the children were very excited to see some familiar animals and some other unfamiliar animals.  At lunchtime we enjoyed telling each other about the animals we had seen.  During the afternoon we all had an ice cream and just before we left visited the shop to buy a gift as a reminder of the zoo.  It was lovely to get back to Wingates and play out before getting ready for bed, enjoying a film and going to bed.

Day Three - An interesting day! and the Snow Dome

We set off in good time this morning to travel down the M6 to Tamworth having checked that the route was clear following an earlier accident.  Unfortunately the knock-on effect of the earlier accident caused a major delay.  We were stuck on the motorway for a long time but the children (and staff) were absolutely amazing - a credit to Pendle View.  We arrived safely at the Snow Dome and had an amazing time.

Day Four - Blue Planet Aquarium and Snugbury's

The weather has been very hot today so we were pleased to have a leisurely day.  We set off and arrived safely at The Blue Planet Aquarium.  The children enjoyed watching all the fish and especially enjoyed watching the fish being fed.  When we had finished there we went to Snugbury's for a much needed ice-cream.  The staff there were very impressed by how polite and sensible the children were and everyone enjoyed their ice creams.  It was then back to The Wingate Centre for a long play outside.  After tea we all enjoyed a disco and party before much needed showers / baths and bed!

Day Five - Leaving The Wingate Centre and back to school via Banny's

We were all very sad to leave The Wingate Centre but also excited to come back to Pendle and see our friends and families.  As the staff packed up the bus and checked we hadn't left anything behind the children had one final play outside in the sun. The journey up the M6 was good and we all enjoyed a lovely lunch at Banny's.   The children were all pleased to see the staff back at school and excitedly told their friends all about the fun they had had during the week.
